Scriptures and the Secret Place
Scriptures and the Secret Place is a Christian meditation podcast inviting you to slow down, breathe, and dwell in the presence of the Lord. Each week, we focus on a Scripture of the Week β meditating deeply so Godβs Word can take root in our hearts and transform our minds.
We intentionally spend a full week on one scripture to truly embrace, absorb, and live it before moving on, allowing the Word to become revelation in our lives.
Through repetition and reflection, each meditation helps you:
- Let Scripture take root in your heart
- Receive revelation through the Holy Spirit
- Memorize the Word to stay encouraged and stand firm against the lies of the enemy
Join us weekly as we journey deeper into Godβs Word β one verse, one meditation, one encounter with Him at a time.

SSP Meditations
Hello and welcome to Scriptures and the Secret Place, your Christian meditation channel. This is your safe space to slow your mind, to take a breath, and enter the loving presence of Jesus. Oh loved ones, that is such a heavy weight you are carrying on your shoulders, trying to keep everyone happy, trying to live up to other people's expectations. God never asked us to carry the weight of ensuring the happiness of one another. He's only asked that we love one another. And yes, there is a difference. Today we will meditate on Proverbs 29-25. But first, let's take deep, nourishing, purposeful breaths. And as we breathe deeply, try to imagine that as you exhale, the weight of what you carry rolls off your shoulders and into the hands of Jesus. Take a deep breath in through the nose, filling right up into your belly. And a long breath out through the mouth. Take a deep breath in. And a long breath out. Once more, take a deep breath in. And a long breath out. Father God in heaven, we come to you in Jesus' name, and we pray for your children on the other side of this meditation. Lord, at some point we were taught that we must carry the weight of other people's happiness and expectations. We feel trapped in a cycle revolving our lives and decisions around the opinions, approval, and expectations of others. And we are exhausted. Forgive us for allowing the voice of others to silence the voice of your discernment. And today we pray for your help. Help us learn to discern your voice and put our identity, confidence, sense of security, and trust in you and your truth, not in the opinions of others. Help us learn the difference between loving someone and making an idol out of their approval. Help us to no longer live life according to the fear of people, but live it according to our trust in you. We know that the power of the Holy Spirit can break us free from our people-pleasing cycle, and we believe in your healing powers to heal the wounds that keep us here, and in your given strength, so we may grow in our faith and trust in you. We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen. Continue to take deep breaths as we meditate on Proverbs twenty-nine, twenty-five. The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe. Let's gently enter our secret place with Jesus and let's share with him the ways in which we struggle with people pleasing. I'll give you a few moments to bear your heart to Jesus now. As important as it is to pray and speak to God, it is also important we take time to listen to God. In these next few moments, get quiet, welcome in the Holy Spirit, and ask Jesus to reveal to you what it is he wants you to know about the struggle you face. Remember, in John 13, 35, Jesus said, By this all people will know that you are my disciples if you have a love for one another. He did not say, By this all people will know that you are my disciples if you keep each other happy. God did not call us to be responsible for others' happiness, but he also did not call us to be selfish. And so the way we figure out the balance is by learning his voice and following his wisdom and allowing this to direct our decisions. May God's wisdom, love, and blessings be upon you.
